Web Designer
Design with a purpose

It’s more than just a design job. You would be client-facing, helping to develop strategies for our clients. It’s not enough to just make a great interface, we want to help our clients build great businesses, so you’ll spend time outside the mockups really getting to know our clients, what they want, and why the interface matters.
We look for designers with the following characteristics:
You have practical experience designing marketing-type websites. Preferably in WebFlow.
You have strong opinions on design, and you can design for users other than yourself
You are a great learner. This, hands down, is the most important thing you can bring to the table. You will need to be willing to work hard to learn what you don’t know.
You are passionate about the startup space. You know what it takes to build something. You don’t need to be able to code, but you know how to “talk the talk.” You know how apps work and generally how engineers build them.
You are a natural at working with clients. You will be working with clients often, and they’ll grow to think of you as a member of their team. You are energized by that.
You understand that product development processes are all about managing uncertainty, and you seek to mitigate that uncertainty
You are proficient in communicating trade-offs in product and technical decisions.
Have 2+ years of experience in Web Design with a portfolio of work.
Job expectations
You are local to Washington, DC - Working remotely is our default policy, but we are looking to grow are local team here with the next few hires.
You are fluent in the Web Design process - you understand what it means to design a product from start to finish.
You are familiar with design systems - you know how to create, manage, and use them.
You can self-manage your projects and provide weekly updates and outcomes.
You will work with clients and the product team to scope out designs from wireframes to high-fidelity compositions
You are flexible
You will work with clients to translate their intentions into modern and compelling designs.
You will work smartly and do what it takes to get things done.
Great-to-have’s
A solid UX/UI skillset - The other designers on our team specialize in UX/UI, so we are looking to expand our focus on Web Design. However - being able to help on those projects as well would be great.
Strong Training Skills - As we continue to grow our team, we’d like to start hiring Junior Designers. This role would be vital to help training and coach a new designer (along with your fellow teamates)
